These crocuses have given us a small preview of Spring.  Beautiful!

10February2013 Hospitality Defined

They fled Iraq after their family received death threats.  Threats weren't enough so the man was shot twice, once in each leg.  They arrived in America last year, following three very difficult years as refugees in Jordan.  Untreated medical issues, PTSD, unemployed, little English; their prospects are not stellar.  BUT when our family walked into their apartment yesterday, they loved us like long-lost relatives and lavished so much food (food they couldn't afford to give) on us that it was nearly embarrassing.  How does one give hospitality like this? It's in their genes.  These are a special people indeed!  Thank God He has called us to serve them!

9February2013 Quickshot: Till I'm Blue in the Face

We now know where the phrase "until I'm blue in the face" means, literally.  We've told the kids over and over and over to put their markers up when they're done with them.  M. forgot one day and L. seized the opportunity.

4February2013 SuperBowl Party

We enjoyed the American, time-honored tradition, Super Bowl party, last night.  D. made enough appetizers and sweets to feed a small army, which is a good thing considering we eat just like a small army.  We also played cornhole and even watched some football and commercials.  Good times!
