So many good things happen around the dinner table.  Tonight's meal with guests and new friends was no different.  After sharing a meal, you never leave the table as strangers.

We love Fridays around here but not for the reasons you may think.  Fridays are the first day of the weekend and the day when we get together with friends and co-laborers to pray, praise, fellowship and learn.  It's truly a day of refreshment, in an oasis in the desert.

Today's a special day around here.  A turns 9! Years! Old!  Please join us in celebrating his life, praise God for the gift of A, and praying for his future.  Our verse for A, this year, comes from Proverbs 9:9-10. 

"Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
    teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
    and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

Stumbled upon this article today and it was too good not to share. Simply love this reminder:

"As the hollow bones of birds were meant for flight, the self-consciousness of man was meant for worship. We worship anything but what is best for us. Such is our insanity. At base, we’re stupid. And insane. This is why redemption is ultimately a vindication of God’s glory by the restoration of the creature to His creator.”

Catch that?  Not necessarily the "we're stupid" part, although it's pretty spot on, but the part about redemption.  God's vindication of us, the redemption we receive solely out of His mercy, the restoration the comes as a result of our Creator's grace and compassion, that redemption is beautiful!  We are awful, wretched, stupid sinners, yet He loved us, right in the middle of us sinning.  Hallelujah yall!  Let's soar!  Let's worship Him!

"It is rare indeed for anyone to die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him!" Romans 5:7-9
