31January2010 What does it cost?

Here's a phrase/question we use every day..."What does it cost?" Nothing here, well not many things, have price tags. This could be because of the constantly fluctuating cost of goods or it could be because that's the way it's always been or maybe the price is different depending upon who the customer is.
Here are some of the responses we get to this question:
  • "Get out of here you crazy American!" (Kidding!)
  • Bananas - $ .57 per pound
  • Strawberries - $.80 per pound
  • Bread - $1.00 per loaf
  • Pepsi 1.5 liter - $1.10
  • Oranges (in season now) - $1.30 for 5 pounds
  • Large Box of Cereal (Generic) - $4.5
  • Large Box of Cereal (ie Golden Grahams) - $8
  • Milk - $2.60 per gallon
  • Papa Johns Pizza - $12 (large, cheese)
  • McDonald's Happy Meal - $2.80
  • Starbucks Latte (Venti) - $5.10
  • Diapers (Pampers) - $15 for package of 70
  • Diapers (Generic) - $7 for package of 100
  • Cellphone "Contract" - $12-15 per month
  • Power Bill - $130 per month
  • Water/Sewer - $16 per month
  • Bottled Water Service - $1.25 (per 5 gallon bottle)
  • Propane (for Heating/Cooking) - $9 (per 16.5 pound tank)
  • Gas (92 octane) - $2.82 per gallon
Many of the prices are similar to that in the US but anything shipped over from the states, granola bars or poptarts for example, cost double. We usually stay away from those things and don't normally frequent US restaurants. M and D have only been to McDonald's 2-3 times since moving here, the boys haven't had their Mc-fix yet.
If you're interested in the price of something in this neck of the woods comment or send us an email and we'll post it up.
Have a great week!

27January2010 Quickshot: When it rains....

It has been rainy the last couple days and around here that means one thing....traffic accidents.

***We were not involved in this wreck. Thankfully we were merely passersby. Thanks to everyone for their concern.
