I stumbled upon this gem from Matthew Henry while studying John 20 recently:

let us beg Him to make us indifferent to the trifling concerns of this life, that we may serve the Lord Jesus with a willing mind, and follow His holy example

With the world captivated by confederate flags and a transgendered decathlete, it's easy to become distracted, even for believers.  Think that's not the case?  Check out your friend's Twitter feed.  Take a gander at your Facebook page.  Our energies can easily be absorbed and our influence easily squandered by the trifling concerns of the world.
Brothers and sisters, let us follow the example of the One on whose hope we stand.  Stay focused!
