19July2016 Hydrated

One imperative to desert life is you have to stay hydrated.  This can be tricky, dangerous even, because the dry atmosphere evaporates moisture so quickly that sometimes your body is screaming for water but you may not even feel thirsty.  Liquids have to been consumed throughout the day, particular if involved in outdoor activities, or you can rapidly become dehydrated.
The same is true for our mental health.  This week we had the opportunity to get out of the city for a couple days.  Our hotel had a pool...and a water slide of all things.  As you can see from the photo above, we put it to good use.  At the end of the day, D and I looked at each other and said, "Why in the world have we taken so long to do this?"  We needed it.  Living in this place can dehydrate you physically and emotionally.  I imagine that can happen wherever you call home. A day of respite, swimming, hiking, flying a kite, fishing or just taking a long nap on a hammock can be a balm to the spirit.  Just remember to stay hydrated!

“If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10
